We are looking for volunteers to assist in the research of flora and fauna species in Magagarape, Kweneng District, on a farm of 23ha, and at an indigenous garden in Matebeleng, Botswana. The farm is located 150km north of Gaborone; and the garden is located 25km from Gaborone, on the edge of a village, 100m from the Notwane River. The farm was set up recently and is equipped with two huts, bathroom and basic amenities. It is off the grid, so power is solar and water is provided from a local borehole. It is just south of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, and optional camping trips to Khutse can be arranged. The garden near Gaborone was set up 5 years ago, and so many flora and fauna species have been logged and identified, but more work on the permaculture garden can be done. It has large granite boulders, savannah grasses, a variety of wildflowers and indigenous trees that supports a diverse habitat for birds, reptiles, amphibians, and insects, as well as larger fauna such as mongoose, hedgehog, and tortoise. Duties on either location will include logging and identification of species. Participation in community art projects are optional activities.
